What will OPSWAR™ be like?
OPSWAR™ is hard edged. The drama is REAL not staged. The participants go through serious duress and have to show positive attitudes under difficult and demanding conditions. Nothing like it has ever been done. Viewers will also get to see the inner workings of the Urban Warfare Center™, a military and police training facility, and intense outdoor and indoor force-on-force missions using paintball technology mixed with real firearms and other real world gear. This is MILSIM (Military Simulation) at its highest level, mixing untrained civilians with real world operators in a test of stamina, strength, and heart. How long has this project been in process?
The concept for OPSWAR™ has been in development for over a year. Information about the show was officially released to the public January 2006 (See Press Release – 05 Jan 2006). The two pilot episodes have been filmed, and the show will be aired Fall/Winter 2006 on the Men’s Channel. What is OPSGEAR®, and how is it involved in the program?
OPSGEAR® is a company dedicated to innovating and distributing the highest quality Tactical and Military Simulation gear in the world. The company has a strong police and military special operations background and culture and established the Urban Warfare Center™, a tactical training facility actively used by Police and Military for force-on-force training. This world class facility is singular in the world, combining paintball marking gun technologies with combat proven methodologies, creating the most compelling and effective training experience possible. This core background, knowledge and experience have been central to the creation of OPSWAR™. Combining this background with the incredible production talent and expertise of EEgroup, OPSWAR™ is sure to be a benchmark television series. What is the background of the OPSWAR cast and participants?
The participants in the program have mixed military, law enforcement and civilian backgrounds. The cast is composed of professionals in their respective fields, including veterans of military special operations, and professional tactical trainers. Is this a paintball show?
Paintball marking guns are an important component of the show. They provide a means to measure success or failure in a force-on-force engagement. Because of the velocity of the paint projectiles they can sting, stimulating a natural fear response important in replicating a combat environment, but when used safely with proper protective gear, paint projectiles are not dangerous. OPSGEAR® components create paintball markers that look and feel like weapons familiar to military and police, enhancing the realism of the experience. This being said, paintball technology is only one component of the show. OPSWAR™ is not about paintball as a sport, or advocating a form of recreation, it is an extreme challenge in which paintball marking guns are one of many tools to test warriors.Modified: 01 Jun 2006
